Workplace Law Team Overview
The Workplace Law team acts for Queensland Government departments, agencies, statutory bodies, and government-owned corporations in significant and challenging workplace law, discrimination, and human rights matters in the State.
Professionals from top-tier and national firms, government, industry, and Crown Law practitioners collaborate on:
* Advising and representing clients in complex discrimination/human rights proceedings, across state and federal jurisdictions, including class actions;
* Representing clients in industrial applications and disputes, including enterprise bargaining processes;
* Assisting clients resolve employee management issues, including discipline and ill employees;
* Representing clients in workers' compensation applications;
* Resolving executive appointments and terminations;
* Providing expertise on public sector employment law and discrimination.
Senior Principal Lawyer Role
As a Senior Principal Lawyer, you will deliver authoritative advice and representation across a wide range of discrimination, employment, and industrial relations matters. You will work closely with the Assistant Crown Solicitor and play a leadership role within the team.
Key Responsibilities
Core Deliverables:
* Deliver superior, expert legal advice to clients across the full spectrum of workplace and discrimination law;
* Represent clients in high-profile and complex matters in state and federal courts, tribunals, and commissions;
* Supervise and mentor junior lawyers, building capability and confidence within the team;
* Support the management of team operations, including staff development, recruitment, and financial performance;
* Build relationships with clients through proactive engagement, training, and thought leadership;
* Contribute to office-wide initiatives enhancing systems, practices, and business performance.
