The Role
A Visiting Music Tutor at Strathallan inspires, enthuses, guides and motivates pupils through the study, practice and performance of Traditional Music.
The successful candidate will be expected to deliver the learning and instruction in Pipe Band Bass and Tenor Drumming.
Additionally, there will be the opportunity to contribute to the co-curricular activities that the department offers.
Whilst the job currently requires tuition for 1 day (9 lessons and an after-school pipe band activity), there is no guarantee that this level of instruction will be required year-on-year.
There is the possibility of further hours if sufficient pupils are recruited.
We would ideally like the successful applicant to be available to teach on Wednesdays, as this is when we hold our Competition Pipe Band practices.
Pipe Band Bass and Tenor Drumming instruction is offered from Year 1 to Upper 6th and is a popular co-curricular choice for pupils.
Pupils practice towards performances at competitions and events across the world, and we have also been lucky enough to share the stage with bands such as Skipinnish, Skerryvore and The Red Hot Chilli Pipers.
