Ecological Consulting Role
This ecological consulting role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to a wide range of projects across NSW, focusing on biodiversity stewardship and restoration work.
About the Role:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Ecologist or Botanist to join our team. This remote role offers flexibility and the chance to tailor your working arrangements to suit your needs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct ecological field surveys, including flora and fauna assessments, in accordance with the NSW Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM)
* Prepare high-quality technical reports, including BDARs and BSSARs
* Undertake native vegetation surveys, including plant community type mapping and targeted threatened species surveys
* Liaise with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders to provide ecological advice and ensure project objectives are met
* Contribute to project planning, fieldwork logistics, data analysis, and report writing
* Manage multiple projects independently, ensuring quality, timelines, and deliverables are maintained
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Tertiary qualifications in Ecology, Botany, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
* BAM Accredited Assessor (or currently working towards accreditation)
* Strong flora survey and native plant identification skills (qualifications in botany highly regarded)
* Experience in fauna survey techniques, species identification, and habitat assessments (advantageous)
* Minimum 2-3 years of consulting experience in ecological fieldwork and reporting
* Demonstrated understanding of NSW ecological legislation, including the BAM and BC Act
* High-level written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on scientific accuracy and clarity
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively
* Proficiency in ecological data analysis and reporting
