We are seeking a visionary Senior Cloud Platform Architect to lead the design and evolution of a sophisticated multi cloud ecosystem for a major Australian Government initiative. This is a high impact leadership role requiring a blend of strategic foresight and deep technical execution across both AWS and Azure platforms.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Security Clearance
An active AGSVA Baseline, NV1, or NV2 security clearance is ESSENTIAL. Due to the sensitivity of the infrastructure and the nature of the government client, we cannot consider applicants who do not currently hold one of these clearances.
The Role
As a Cloud Platform Architect, you will be the primary technical authority responsible for translating complex business requirements into resilient, secure, and scalable cloud solutions. You will move beyond simple implementation to define the long‐term cloud strategy and transformation roadmap for the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Architectural Strategy: Design and implement comprehensive multi-cloud strategies that align technical capabilities with overarching business and government objectives.
* Transformation Leadership: Lead cloud migration and modernisation initiatives, ensuring solutions are built for high availability, scalability, and disaster recovery.
* Enterprise Design: Produce high‐level Landing Zone designs, identity integration frameworks, and complex network segmentation patterns.
* Governance & Compliance: Define security baselines, guardrails, and governance artefacts to ensure strict adherence to industry‐standard protocols and government compliance frameworks.
* Performance Optimisation: Continuously audit and refine resource utilisation across multiple providers to maximise efficiency and cost‐effectiveness.
* Technical Mentorship: Provide high‐level guidance and leadership to engineering teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
Your Technical Profile
We are looking for an industry veteran with 10+ years of hands‐on experience architecting and implementing complex cloud solutions.
Technical Essentials:
* Multi‐Platform Mastery: Deep expertise in both Azure and AWS cloud platforms and their respective architectural patterns.
* Infrastructure as Code: Advanced proficiency in Terraform for deploying global‐scale landing zones and security guardrails.
* Security & Networking: Expert knowledge of network segmentation, identity management (IAM/AD), and security‐by‐design principles.
* Strategic Artefacts: Proven ability to author high‐quality technical documentation, including architecture decision records (ADRs) and security baselines.
* Framework Knowledge: Solid understanding of ITIL processes and how they integrate into modern cloud governance models.
Qualifications & Certifications:
* Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
* Certifications: Current Azure Solutions Architect Expert or AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional.
* Sector Experience: Demonstrated success working in government or highly regulated environments with rigorous audit requirements.
