THE ROLEAs a solicitor in the Public Law, Litigation and Inquiries team, you will be required to provide timely legal advice and representation for key stakeholders that is strategic and practical.
Your advice must be clear, accurate and outcomes-focused.
Your legal work will include advising on a broad range of legal issues, statutory interpretation and administrative law matters.
You will support the management of sensitive litigation matters, which may include coronial inquiries, matters under the Crimes (Mental Impairment and Unfitness to be Tried) Act 1997 and Hague Convention (International Child Abduction), discrimination complaints and personal injury matters.
The role requires the exercise of sound judgment, initiative and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues across the Legal Services Branch and the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing.ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE• Provide well-reasoned legal advice, briefings and correspondence.
