We are seeking a high-caliber Exploration Manager to lead and oversee approved exploration programs and activities in support of ZIJIN’s strategic growth initiatives. This role is responsible for driving exploration success across diverse regions that may encompass multiple concessions, ensuring all activities align with the company’s expansion goals.
Serving as the primary contact for the exploration office, the Exploration Manager acts as the central pillar for regional operations. You will be responsible for the technical integrity of programs, the efficient management of resources across various license areas, and fostering seamless communication between the field and corporate leadership to secure ZIJIN’s resource pipeline.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Set strategy, objectives and budgets regarding grassroots exploration in consultation with the Technical Director of SA Exploration Company, Site General Managers/Directors and Operations as warranted. Work with the Senior Management Group in Exploration to ensure alignment, co-ordination and integration of strategies and programs.
* Manage the approved region’s exploration programs for ZIJIN’s subsidiaries and communicate progress and results to the Technical Director, CEO of RGM and local Operations Management as warranted.
* Manage near mine exploration in cooperation with the operation’s management team (i.e., Rosebel, Saramacca, etc.).
* Utilize joint ventures to spread risk, share costs, increase the level of focused activity and provide greater access to potentially successful projects. Conduct regional compilation and target generation
* Identify and evaluate opportunities for new resources, including in current RGM properties
* Propose new property acquisition in accordance with the exploration strategy
* Monitor competitor activity and interest within the Guiana Shield and identify opportunities for beneficial co-operation agreements with partners.
* Negotiate and execute (or contribute to) various agreements and contracts according to approved authorization levels and the Legal & Corporate Affairs Department.
* Ensure that employees incorporate into their planning and work the actions necessary to fulfill ZIJIN’s commitment to the protection and safeguard of life, health and the environment for present and future generations.
* Manage the performance of professionals and staff in the designated areas.
* Effectively manage employees to produce results in a style that fosters high ethical standards, high morale, team building, and the promotion of entrepreneurial and creative behaviors.
* Oversee the execution of approved exploration programs in accordance with RGM HSS policies, Standard Operating Procedures, industry best practice and established exploration strategy
* Compose corporate reports and presentations
* Ensure that mandatory government reporting is delegated and completed in a timely
* Complete NI43-101 Technical Reports on exploration discoveries
* Initiate/lead Pre-Feasibility Studies in collaboration with relevant Departments and/or consultant groups
* Bachelor’s degree in Geology, preferably a postgraduate degree
* A professional geologist and an active member in a professional association, a Qualified Person under National Instrument 43-101, is preferred.
* Formal training and advanced knowledge in GIS and professional software; advanced knowledge in Datamine Discover (MapInfo), Geosoft Target, and familiarity with Leapfrog are highly regarded
* Advanced knowledge in Structural Geology, Geochemistry, Geophysics, and Remote Sensing
* Minimum 12 – 15 years of practical experience in geological exploration for mining
* Extensive technical experience and expertise in gold deposits and their exploration methodology
* Extensive Business and management experience is required
* Minimum 5 years of effective project management, including local workforce, contractors and consultants

* Knowledgeable on Guiana Shield competitors and strategy
* Knowledgeable on agreement structures and terms
