NT Health Nursing and Midwifery Graduate Program

Job Overview

The NT Health Nursing and Midwifery Graduate Program is a 12-month fixed-term opportunity for early career nurses to develop professionally in various clinical areas and consolidate their knowledge and skills in a supportive workplace environment.

Nursing in the Northern Territory offers unique and exciting challenges, with opportunities to work in a variety of settings and make a real difference in the lives of Territorians.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate client care.
2. Work within the registered nurse/midwife scope of practice and according to evidence-based practice and legislation.
3. Collaborate respectfully and effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
4. Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
5. Foster a positive workplace culture through role modelling appropriate behaviour.
6. Adhere to defined service quality standards, Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures to ensure high-quality services and workplaces.
7. Capacity to work flexible hours and be redeployed to meet clinical needs.

Selection Criteria

* Current registration as a registered nurse or registered midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
* Understanding of and ability to coordinate client care resulting in positive clinical outcomes.
* Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to contribute to the multidisciplinary team.
* Understanding of the impact of social and cultural challenges experienced by vulnerable groups/communities and the role of the nurse/midwife in supporting them.
* Knowledge and understanding of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) principles in a healthcare setting.
