About the Role
Volunteer Retail Assistant – a non‐paid volunteer role supporting Salvos Stores, part of The Salvation Army.
Note: This volunteer role does not provide pay.
Responsibilities
* Greet customers and provide a warm, friendly experience.
* Answer inquiries and guide customers as needed.
* Assist with the Donor Care Program – receiving donated goods and ensuring proper handling.
* Process donated goods: assess condition, functionality, and suitability, and price items according to established guidelines.
* Stock and display items on the sales floor, maintaining a neat and organized presentation.
* Maintain cleanliness of the sales floor, merchandise, and staff areas.
* Follow waste management guidelines in line with sustainable practices.
* Ensure a safe environment for customers, visitors, and staff by adhering to safe work practices.
* Be mindful of health and safety for yourself and others.
Qualifications and Personal Attributes
* Friendly, approachable, and a team player who enjoys building new connections.
* Positive, can‐do attitude and resilience in challenging situations.
* Willingness to follow instructions and seek help when needed.
* Integrity, honesty and strong moral principles.
* Alignment with The Salvation Army values and adherence to official policies.
Volunteers must be 15 years of age or older.
