Painter – Construction & Maintenance | Ongoing Opportunities
Protech is seeking experienced and motivated Painters to join our client’s team, delivering high‑quality work across both construction and maintenance projects. This is a great opportunity for skilled tradespeople who take pride in their workmanship and value safety, teamwork, and consistency.
About the Role
As a Painter, you will carry out a range of painting and surface preparation tasks across residential, commercial, and industrial environments. You’ll work both independently and within a team, ensuring all work meets quality and safety standards.
Key aspects of the role include:
* Applying a variety of painting techniques and methods across different surfaces.
* Preparing substrates through sanding, patching, filling, priming, and cleaning.
* Working safely around asbestos, lead‑based materials, and other high‑risk construction situations.
* Completing daily task risk assessments, identifying hazards, and complying with WHS requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Apply paint, stains, varnishes, and protective coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
* Perform maintenance, refurbishment, and new‑build painting works.
* Conduct touch‑ups, colour matching, and high‑standard finishing.
* Protect fixtures and surfaces using appropriate masking and preparation techniques.
* Maintain tools, equipment, materials, and a clean work environment.
* Operate EWP and other equipment where licensed.
* Work effectively within required timelines and project schedules.
Skills & Experience
* Experience in commercial, residential, or industrial painting (preferred).
* Strong knowledge of paint types, coatings, and application methods.
* Solid understanding of surface preparation and finishing standards.
* Ability to identify and resolve defects such as cracking, blistering, or peeling.
* Understanding of WHS requirements and safe work practices.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Trade Qualification in Painting & Decorating (preferred).
* Construction White Card.
* Ability to pass pre‑employment medical assessments.
* Current driver’s licence and reliable transport.
* EWP, Working at Heights, or similar tickets (desirable).
* Strong focus on safe, productive, and high‑quality work.
