The opportunity
We are excited to be inviting applications for the opportunity of Associate Director Technical Strategy and Architecture for Government Technology Platforms, within Digital NSW as it transforms to become the state's trusted partner to enable accessible and secure digital platforms and services for the citizens and business of NSW.
In this role, you will provide architecture and technical leadership to develop, iterate and improve all-of-government platform and products to continuously deliver value aligned to government priorities. In this role you will oversee the development of the future state architecture and technical roadmap working closely with the architects and other stakeholders across Government Technology Platforms. You will optimise chapter architecture and technical capability, mitigate risks, and improves the effectiveness and reliability of government services in an agile environment through effective learning and development.
Day to Day Responsibilities
·Oversee engineering execution, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities, and manage risks, blockers, and dependencies.
·Drive the future state architecture development and maintenance to support key architecture decisions, strategic investments and procurement, lifecycle management and innovation.
·Drive the Technical strategy and roadmap development and excellence, working with architects and other stakeholders to develop technical roadmaps addressing future state business needs and non-functional requirements whilst addressing technical debt
·Collaborate with cross-functional teams and architects to provide technical leadership and to ensure designs align with the target state architecture, standards, principles, and strategic direction and roadmaps.
·Mentor Senior Architects and drive talent development, fostering a high-performance culture focused on innovation and accountability.
·Implement process improvements, optimise technical and architecture delivery practices and methods, standards development, tooling and governance.
What you will bring to this role
·Experience in the development of enterprise future state architecture and enterprise-wide technical strategies and roadmaps
·A foundation in systems development, with a strong understanding of the system development life cycle, project management approaches, and design, requirements, and testing techniques.
·Experience in developing and applying solution patterns and standards, and the ability to adapt them to new solutions.
·Experience in the methodology development and technical and architecture process improvement and tooling.
·Knowledge of established and emerging technologies, with the ability to incorporate these into both new and existing solutions.
· Proven experience collaborating with both business and technical stakeholders to provide expert advice on technology strategy and architecture, maximising technology investments with the ability to communicate complex concepts to both business and technical stakeholders.
·Experience in acting a delegate for senior leadership to champion initiatives that maximise the value of all-of-government platforms and services.
·Demonstrated experience in leading high-level negotiations and partnerships across NSW Government Agencies to influence optimal service delivery.
·Proven experience in coaching and develop skilled teams in a scaled agile environment to foster innovation and continuous improvement.
·Experience in monitoring and refining team performance through communities of practice, aligning operating models, and improving organizational health and delivery capability.
·Extensive experience in a digital/ICT functional role including possessing deep technical knowledge and understanding of both legacy and emerging technologies
·Knowledge and/or experience in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
Essential requirements
·Appointment and ongoing assignment may be subject to restrictions and the satisfactory participation in mandatory pre-employment and ongoing probity screening, in accordance with relevant Legislation and/or related policies.
·Demonstrated experience in leading digital transformation initiatives in an agile environment.
·Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and high-level negotiations.
·Expertise in developing enterprise-wide future state architectures and technical roadmaps.
·Strong leadership and coaching skills with the ability to inspire high-performing teams.
·At least 5 years' experience in a architecture leadership role or equivalent
·TOGAF Level 8+ or equivalent (highly desirable)
·A tertiary qualification in IT, Systems or Software Engineering, Computer Science Digital, Information Management, or equivalent
Salary Grade 11/12, with the base salary for this role starting at 149,739 base plus superannuation
