Junior Lawyer / Senior Lawyer (Multiple Positions Available)

Allygroup is seeking dedicated and detail-oriented junior and senior lawyers to join a high-profile federal government agency for an initial 6-month secondment, with the possibility of two 6-month extensions. In this role, you will contribute to the integrity of government processes by conducting assessments and inquiries into complex matters, ensuring procedural fairness and accountability.
You will be involved in both preliminary assessments and formal inquiries, preparing detailed reports and recommendations based on gathered evidence. This includes engaging with complainants, respondents, and witnesses, and working closely with internal stakeholders to evaluate and resolve sensitive issues.
Some of the key duties include:
conducting interviews to clarify issues raised and determine desired outcomes
drafting and issuing statutory notices and procedural fairness correspondence
preparing assessment and inquiry reports using structured templates and secure systems
collaborating with internal staff to review relevant records and policies
providing regular updates to senior staff and interested parties
drafting outcome correspondence and assisting in preparing directions for further action
participating in regular meetings and contributing to continuous process improvement
Our ideal candidates will have:
strong investigative and analytical skills
excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to draft clear, accessible reports aligned with government writing standards
high attention to detail and sound judgment in handling sensitive matters
ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Prior experience in administrative law, investigations, or statutory decision-making is highly desirable

This opportunity is available for candidates based in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. Candidates must hold a Baseline security clearance or above and be available to work on a full-time basis.
