NT Health (Primary and Public Health Care Unit) – Nurse/Midwife Clinical Specialist Remote (Nurse 4) - (Full-time/Part-time/Casual) - Fixed for up to 18 months
Employing extensive experience, skills and knowledge in the remote practice setting the successful applicant will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team servicing remote clinics. The successful applicant will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure Aboriginal specific and culturally appropriate services are provided. Experience driving a manual vehicle and eligibility to obtain an NT driver’s licence along with a willingness to travel to remote communities on a regular basis by either 4WD or light plane is inherent to the role. The successful applicant will be required to participate in a 24/7 emergency on call roster and must be current with or willing to attain vaccination, remote emergency management, and midwifery emergency management certification.

- Accountable for providing sound professional advice and for assessment, planning, review, evaluation and coordination of comprehensive client care and/or case management within the speciality area.

Selection criteria:
Essential
- Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or eligible for same.
- Demonstrated highly developed clinical knowledge and skills in relevant area of nursing/midwifery supporting well developed clinical decision-making and problem solving to achieve best practice outcomes for healthcare consumers.
- Demonstrate and promote a learning environment through clinical support, instruction, and feedback including mentoring students, graduates and less experienced staff across the multidisciplinary team.
- Experience contributing to the development and implementation of local/regional policy, including interpreting established professional precedents and organisational policies and supporting change management.
- Demonstrated use of effective communication skills to influence and convince staff and/or clients, including on sensitive matters requiring tact and diplomacy
- Demonstrates well-developed knowledge and understanding of the social and cultural issues, influences and sensitivities that influence health care provision for clients and families.
Desirable
- Graduate Certificate beyond entry-to-practice relevant to specialty area.
