This is an exciting opportunity to join Health Safety and Staff Wellbeing as a WHS Officer, supporting the delivery of safe and sustainable construction environments, maintenance projects, and programs of work. About the role
As a WHS Officer, you will:
* Support the development and implementation of WHS systems, procedures, and programs to improve work practices and promote safe workplaces.
* Provide sound advice, guidance, and support to identify and resolve WHS issues, minimising risk and ensuring compliance.
* Engage and consult with stakeholders to build WHS knowledge and awareness across the organisation.
* Liaise with project teams and external auditors to schedule safety assurance activities and review safety audit reports.
* Monitor, review, and report on WHS activities, including incident management, corrective actions, and hazard close-out.
* Collect and analyse WHS data to meet reporting and compliance obligations.
* Recommend improvements to WHS systems, policies, and procedures, and contribute to team projects and initiatives.
* Promote WHS awareness through training and communication to support proactive WHS initiatives.

About you -
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Knowledge of WHS legislation, policies, and practices, ideally gained in construction or infrastructure environments.
* Demonstrated experience in implementing WHS systems and processes to improve safety culture and compliance.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to provide practical WHS advice to a wide range of audiences.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to monitor data, identify risks, and recommend improvements.
* A commitment to continuous improvement and promoting best practice WHS outcomes.
* Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Essential requirements of the role
* Tertiary qualifications in Work, Health and Safety and/or equivalent relevant experience.
* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
