Mechanical Design Engineer - 3D Printing Specialist
This role is ideal for a trade-qualified or diploma-level engineer with strong computer-aided design (CAD) skills, at least two years' hands-on experience in drafting, mechanical design, or fabrication, and a passion for additive manufacturing.
* Design and coordinate the production of moulds for cast shapes
* Create and modify three-dimensional models and drawings
* Supervise and support the fabrication of industrial-scale moulds
* Operate and maintain large-format 3D printers
* Support production with plant-based engineering solutions
* Assist in engineering projects from concept to delivery
Key requirements:
* Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
* Practical knowledge of mechanical engineering principles
* Solid CAD/drafting skills (Fusion 360, Inventor, or similar)
* Ability to work collaboratively across departments and engage effectively with tradespeople
* Practical approach and willingness to adapt
* Capacity to lead and collaborate as part of a team
* Comfortable working with various materials
* A keen eye for detail and quality in fabrication and design
Bonus points if you have:
* Experience with project management software
* Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles
* A background in materials science or related field
