The Early Childhood Regulatory Authority (ECRA) is recruiting a Talent Pool of Senior Regulatory Officers to fill current and future permanent and temporary vacancies across the 8 regions in Queensland over the next 12 months. ECRA has conducted Talent Pool recruitment for Senior Regulatory Officers previously and successful applicants remain current in the pool until they are offered a permanent position or 12 months has lapsed. Successful applicants from all 2024 talent pool processes should reapply now to be considered for positions in ECRA.

About The Department Of Education
The Department of Education (DoE) sets the foundations for quality early learning experiences and delivers world class education services. The department also hosts the Early Childhood Regulatory Authority which is responsible for regulating early childhood education and care services.


Your Role

The Senior Regulatory Officer reports to the Manager, Regulation, in each Regional Office, Early Childhood Regulatory Authority, Early Childhood, Regulation and Communication Division.

* Support the ECRA by consistently and fairly applying relevant early childhood education and care (ECEC) legislation, standards, policies and guidelines in the regulation of the ECEC sector within the context of the Regulating for Quality policy
* Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including Regional Offices, Central Office Teams and ECEC providers and services to achieve regulatory outcomes

Responsibilities Include, But Not Limited To

* Consistently and fairly applying relevant ECEC legislation, standards, policies and guidelines in the regulation of the ECEC sector within the context of the Regulating for Quality policy. This may be carried out through monitoring, investigations and assessment of applications and notifications, as required
* Conduct assessment and rating of education and care services across Queensland
* Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including Regional Offices, and ECEC providers and services to achieve regulatory outcomes
* Other suitable duties, consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the position as directed by the supervisor


About You

The successful applicant will have the following qualities:

* Experience as a regulator or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of regulating the ECEC sector
* Experience in conducting assessment and rating or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge and complete training in conducting assessment and rating
* Ability to analyse evidence and create analysis
* Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
* Ability to prioritise and complete projects and tasks efficiently; decision-making skills
* Ability to manage risk and prioritise the work
* Ability to work collaboratively with a range of different stakeholders
* A passion for early childhood, with a focus on the health, safety and wellbeing of all children attending early childhood education and care services

* Strong written communication is a skill required for this position, please submit a maximum 2-page (only) response to the following: The ECRA takes a risk-based approach to regulating early childhood education and care services, as explained in Regulating for Quality (R4Q). Please provide your understanding and examples of your work as they relate to risk identification and management
* Explain your ability to make good decisions based on evidence
* Explain how you will establish high personal standards and expectations, if you were successful in the role
