The AFP needs dedicated individuals ready to take on dynamic, impactful policing roles in Darwin. As a national police officer, you'll investigate and prevent crime to keep Australia, and Australian interests both locally and overseas safe. Based at our headquarters at Darwin Airport, you will work with a close-knit team of dedicated individuals making a difference. Our national police officers in Darwin work to combat child exploitation, terrorism, drug crime, organised crime, transnational crime and more. With policing opportunities across investigations, counter terrorism, intelligence, aviation and more, the AFP has a role for you.
Responsibilities
* Investigate complex, transnational, serious and organised crime.
* Protect Australians and Australian interests from terrorism and violent extremism.
* Represent Australian police and engage with various law enforcement and national security agencies on a domestic and international level.
* Develop unique capabilities and use advanced technology to support Australia's national interests.
* Prevent and investigate aviation crime that crosses national and international borders.
* Act as a first responder to security and emergency incidents at Darwin Domestic and International Airport.
Salary, Training and Qualification
Upon graduation from the AFP College, police officers will receive a starting salary of $91,726 per annum including base salary, 22% composite and Use of Force (UoF) allowance, plus penalties and overtime where applicable.
* The annual payment of the UoF allowance is dependent on members successfully holding and maintaining a UoF certification.
AFP police officers get paid to train at the AFP College in Canberra over 26 weeks, including meals and accommodation. On successful completion of training and workbook assessments, you will be awarded a Diploma of Policing.

Education and Requirements
* hold a Year 10 certificate + 2 years of work experience, OR
* hold a Year 10 Certificate + a nationally recognised vocational education, qualification Certificate III level or higher, OR
* hold a Year 12 Certificate, OR
* hold a vocational education qualification / tertiary qualification Diploma level or higher
* hold a valid Australian driver's licence (P Plates are accepted; if you have a learner's licence, please wait to apply once you have your provisional licence)
* provide evidence that you can swim 100 meters freestyle, and have current First Aid and CPR certifications
