About the Role
The Collection Development Librarian plays a key role in shaping and maintaining diverse, relevant and high-quality library collections that reflect the needs and interests of the community.
Working closely with the Branch Librarian, the role also supports branch operations, liaising with external partners and contributes specialist knowledge to uphold excellent customer service and contemporary library practice.
About you
We're seeking a highly organised and analytical individual with a genuine passion for literature, learning and community engagement. The ideal candidate is an effective communicator who enjoys collaborating and thrives in a role that blends collection strategy with digital innovation and operational support.
Besides substantial experience working in a public library, you'll need to have:
* Tertiary qualification in Librarianship or related field
* Developed organisational, communication and time management skills
* Sound knowledge of contemporary library practice, especially information retrieval skills, cataloguing, information organisation and criteria for stock selection
* Familiarity with e-resource acquisition processes
* Widely read, with a good knowledge of literature at all levels
* An understanding of automated library management systems
* Demonstrated experience in using social media and other means of online engagement to promote library collections and services and collect customer feedback.

Salary: Starting from Level 5 Step 1 – Step 4 ($93,945 - $99,660 pa pro rata) City of Cockburn Industrial Agreement 2025 based on qualification and experience.
