We are seeking dedicated cooking professionals to support our kitchen catering services. Whether you qualify as a Grade 3 Cook (commi chef level) or bring the added experience of a Grade 4 Cook (demi chef level) with proven supervision and training skills, we want to hear from you. In these roles you will have the opportunity to prepare, cook and serve nutritious, wholesome, and appetising meals in line with approved recipes and menus—all while upholding the core values of the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod.
Position purpose:
The purpose of this role is to provide support in the provision of quality services, primarily in kitchen catering, secondarily other duties in food & beverage, guest, office or facility services, to Alexandra Park Conference Centre and its patrons.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform general and specialised cooking duties—including butchering, baking, and pastry preparation.
* For Grade 4 roles, supervise and train fellow cooks and kitchen staff to ensure consistent quality.
* Identify strategies to improve service delivery, suggesting enhancements to policies, processes, and the overall work environment.
* Work alongside other departments (e.g., Guest Services, Facilities Maintenance) when needed to support overall service excellence.
* Work in accordance with our Code of Conduct, workplace health and safety legislation, and other relevant policies—including timely reporting of hazards or incidents.
Qualifications & Experience:
* (Grade 3) Trade qualification as a commis chef (or equivalent) with previous experience in a commercial kitchen environment.
* (Grade 4) Trade qualification as a demi chef (or equivalent) with demonstrated experience in supervising and training kitchen staff.
* Commitment to excellent personal hygiene, attention to detail, and quality customer service.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* A genuine commitment to the mission, values, and policies of the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod.
* Suitability Card for Child Related Employment (Blue Card)
