About the role
We are seeking an experienced Safety / Security Officer to join our team at Cosmo Mine, located 160 km from Darwin. Camp accommodation and meals are provided on shift.
This role is DIDO (Drive In Drive Out) from Darwin working a 7/7 day shift roster with 12 hour shifts. You will be responsible for providing site security services, occupational first aid services and safety support primarily at the Cosmo Mine and also other company assets including the Union Reef Mill and Pine Creek camp.
Reporting to the Senior Health and Safety Advisor, your duties will include:
* Provide a high standard of occupational first aid medical patient care
* Ensure compliance with company procedures, work instructions, regulations and other legal requirements
* Assist with minor/routine medical cases
* Carry out vehicle and medical centre stock checks, ensuring the medical equipment is fully functional and stock are maintained
* Complete onsite drug and alcohol testing and maintain all operating equipment
* Patrols across sites – gate/padlock checks
* SWAPS and Visitor Card paperwork for incoming visitors and contractors
* Escort – vehicles and people around site as required
* Prepare and present Toolbox Safety Talks
* Conduct Site Inductions in the absence of Safety Advisor
The successful candidate should possess the following:
* Operational experience in a health and safety role preferably within the mining / heavy industry
* Able to work in a team environment
* Ability to work with minimum supervision
* Minimum Occupational First Aid and Pain Management qualification
* Certified Drug and Alcohol tester (or ability to obtain)
* NT Crowd Controller & Security Licence
* Minimum HR – NT Drivers Licence & manual C class license
* Forklift tickets and applicable licencing for water truck operation
