Meat Inspector Role Overview
A quality-focused professional is needed to work in our meat processing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in all aspects of meat production.
Key Responsibilities:
* Caracass Inspection: Conduct thorough inspections of caracasses to assess their lean meat content, fat distribution, marbling, and overall composition.
* Sampling Procedures: Collect accurate meat samples using drilling equipment for CL (Chemical Lean) testing and microwave testing in line with standard procedures.
* Documentation: Record carcass weights, grades, and yield data, maintaining accurate documentation.
* Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with AUS-MEAT, food safety, and internal QA standards.
* Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and sterilise all equipment, keeping the workstation clean and hygienic.
Requirements:
* Strong Technical Knowledge: Possess a strong understanding of carcass grading, meat composition, and lean measurement methods.
* Excellent Attention to Detail: Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data collection.
* Food Safety Awareness: Have knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
* Collaborative Team Player: Be able to work effectively in a physically demanding, cold, and wet environment.
* Effective Communication: Possess strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Certificate or Training: Certificate or training in meat processing, meat science, or meat inspection preferred.
* Abattoir Experience: Previous experience in abattoir operations, carcass grading, or quality inspection advantageous.
* Industry Grading: Familiarity with AUS-MEAT or similar industry grading and yield standards preferred.
* QA Compliance: Understanding of Clinical Lean (CL) testing procedures and QA compliance.
