The Role
The SEA3000 Project is seeking an experienced and high-performing EL 1 Sustainment Manager to lead the coordinated development, integration and delivery of Support System artefacts required to establish, govern and enable sustainment for the General Purpose Frigate (GPF) capability.
This role focuses on supporting the Navy Sponsor and Maritime Sustainment Division (MSD) through the acquisition phase by ensuring that sustainment foundations are robust, coherent and aligned with program needs.
Reporting to the SEA3000 Engineering Sustainment Director, you will oversee sustainment readiness activities, manage key interfaces with Defence and Industry, and drive quality and governance standards across the Support System work stream. This is an influential leadership position suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced maritime acquisition environment and can confidently lead people, manage risk, and deliver high-value outcomes for Defence.
About our Team
The SEA3000 Project resides in the General Purpose Frigates (GPF) Branch within the Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group, as part of the Major Surface Combatants & Combat Systems Division. The Branch has been established for the accelerated delivery of eleven (11) GPF vessels, and is at the forefront of ADF Maritime Capability delivery.
This role sits in the Sustainment Team, which ensures the foundations for long-term support of the GPF capability are clear, coherent and achievable. You will work alongside engineering, ILS, training, configuration, and assurance specialist, contributing to one of Australia's most strategically significant shipbuilding programs.
The position is based at the Alan Woods Building (AWB), Canberra. While flexible working arrangements may be supported where operationally appropriate, the role requires a consistent on-site presence due to the level of stakeholder interaction, integration, and governance involvement.

Key attributes and experience we are looking for:
* Experience leading delivery of complex Support System artefacts or sustainment products within maritime or similarly complex engineering environments.
* Strong programmatic skills including schedule management, risk oversight, quality assurance and readiness planning.
* Excellent communication skills with an ability to influence, brief and negotiate at senior levels.
* Confident engagement skills with a variety of internal and external stakeholders at different levels.
* Proven experience leading teams, managing priorities and supporting staff development in high-tempo environments.
