Project Manager – Major Mechanical & Electrical Infrastructure (Defence)

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major mechanical and electrical infrastructure project for a leading Defence contractor. This is a critical leadership role, responsible for ensuring project outcomes are delivered on time, within budget, and to Defence-grade quality and compliance standards.
The successful candidate will manage a multidisciplinary engineering team and contractors, coordinate with key Defence stakeholders, and oversee the planning, execution, and risk management of a complex infrastructure program.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the planning and delivery of a large-scale mechanical and electrical infrastructure project within the Defence sector.
* Manage project lifecycle from initiation through to commissioning and handover.
* Oversee engineering, procurement, and construction activities with a strong focus on compliance, safety, and reliability.
* Manage schedules, budgets, contracts, and risk frameworks in alignment with Defence and company standards.
* Liaise with Defence clients, subcontractors, and internal engineering teams to ensure requirements are met.
* Drive progress reporting, governance, and stakeholder communication at senior levels.
* Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement across the project team.
Desire Skills & Experience
* Proven track record in project management of major mechanical and/or electrical infrastructure projects.
* Experience working in the Defence, heavy engineering, or complex infrastructure sectors.
* Strong knowledge of engineering principles (mechanical, electrical, or systems).
* Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in high-stakes environments.
* Excellent commercial, contract, and risk management skills.
* Strong stakeholder engagement capability, including with government and Defence organisations.
* Project Management qualifications (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) highly regarded.
* Current or eligible to obtain an Australian Defence security clearance (NV1 or higher).
