Join our Registry Law team within Legal Services and work on complex and meaningful legal issues that sit at the intersection of administrative law, public law and regulatory operations. * Brisbane or Melbourne location * Temporary Position – 12 months * Salary from $97,401 15.4% superannuation * Applications close at 11:59pm AEST, Tuesday 28 April The team The Registry Law team sits within ASIC's Legal Services group and provides legal advice supporting the operation of ASIC's business, company, investment and professional registers. The team advises on a wide range of registry‑related legal matters, including statutory powers, registry operations, third‑party arrangements, court and tribunal matters, administered revenue, delegations, policies, procedures, communications, information handling and privacy. The team also provides legal services to the RegistryConnect Program and other initiatives involving registry outcomes. The role As a Lawyer – Registry Law, you will provide legal advice and guidance on ASIC's registry responsibilities and operations. You will work collaboratively with other lawyers in the team, supporting ASIC's registry functions through sound legal analysis, advice and documentation. This role is well suited to a lawyer who enjoys administrative and regulatory law, values public service, and is keen to develop expertise in registry‑related legal frameworks within a dynamic in‑house environment. You will: * Provide legal advice and guidance on ASIC's registry responsibilities and operations * Prepare briefs and draft legal documents for administrative law matters * Assist with court and tribunal applications * Conduct compliance checks and review applications relating to registry matters * Undertake legal research and analysis on registry legislation, frameworks and ASIC policies (including international comparisons where relevant) * Work collaboratively and professionally across ASIC, modelling the values of Accountability, Professionalism and Teamwork About you You are a capable and motivated lawyer with strong legal judgement and a collaborative approach. You communicate clearly, enjoy working through complex legal issues, and are comfortable supporting regulatory decision‑making in a fast‑paced environment. You will also have: * Legal qualifications and a current practising certificate * Post‑admission experience as a lawyer (experience in government, regulatory or private practice environments is relevant) * Demonstrated experience interpreting, advising on and applying legislation * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Sound problem‑solving and risk‑management capabilities * The ability to work effectively as part of a team and manage competing priorities About ASIC ASIC's remit is one of the broadest of regulators across the world.
