Job Title: Senior Network Specialist
Job Description
We are seeking a seasoned network professional to join our team as a Senior Network Specialist. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining computer networks for clients.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in network engineering, design, analysis, and installation. They should be able to provide support for customers' computer data communications network systems by providing engineering specifications, modifications, and inspections for computer networks.
Key Responsibilities
1. Installation and maintenance of LAN/WAN devices.
2. Responding to and resolving incident tickets.
3. Drafting and implementing standard network change requests.
4. Providing support to Tier III network engineers for incident management and projects.
5. Performing configuration management functions such as update topology drawings, ensuring asset management records are accurate, and conducting inventory.
6. Coordinating network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades.
7. Configuring and troubleshooting layer 2 switching (VLANs, Port Security, Thin Configurations).
Requirements
1. TS/SCI with Poly.
2. At least 16 years of relevant work experience or a combination of education and experience that meets the requirement.
3. Compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.
4. Working knowledge of basic routing fundamentals.
5. Working knowledge of layer 2 switching concepts.
6. Knowledge of CISCO/Juniper Return Material Authorization (RMA) processes.
7. Layer 1 and Layer 2 network experience (CAT5, Single Mode (SM)/Multimode (MM) Fiber, Serial cables, Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP)).
8. Knowledge of Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) models.
9. Knowledge of Cisco Internetworking Operating System (IOS), Juniper JUNOS, and the Brocade and Foundry Operating System (OS).
10. Familiarity with Layer 3 protocols such as OSPF, BGP, VRRP, HSRP, MPLS, Language Server Protocol (LSP), and GRE.
11. Familiarity with Microsoft Visio, ServiceNow, and Atlassian Confluence.
12. Working knowledge of Service Now or similar IT Service Management (ITSM) products.
