Our client a local city council is seeking an experienced Civil Maintenance worker for various City infrastructure and road maintenance projects, particularly asphalt repairs. This role is full time for 2-3 months with the potential for extension. About the role: Perform regular scheduled inspections of the City's road network ensuring maintenance works identified and are completed in a timely manner. Safely operate a range of plant and equipment to a high standard. Plant operation may include multiple items such as flocon, trucks, wheel loader, skid steer loader, excavator, truck mounted crane, or other similar equipment. Ensure basic worksite traffic management is conducted safely and in accordance with Australian Standards and the Code of Practice. Actively contribute to workplace safety, including the development, implementation and review of risk, hazard and safety documentation and processes. Demonstrate behaviour that is consistent with team values and provide direction, training and guidance to other employees within City Operations and contractor staff as applicable. Maintain plant, tools and equipment by cleaning and checking oil, fuel and water on a daily basis; report faults, accidents or maintenance requirements to Supervisors and appropriate City Team Members. Actively participate in team meeting discussions by making suggestions which contribute to the objectives of the section. Provide and maintain good relationships with both internal and external customers. Maintain daily time sheets and other site work records as required, including the use of computer programs to enter and retrieve basic data and correspondence. Perform other reasonable duties as requested, within the scope of this position and in accordance with skills, knowledge, and experience. About you: Previous relevant experience and knowledge of asphalt and civil engineering maintenance work. Considerable experience in the safe operation and maintenance of applicable plant and equipment. Demonstrated understanding, knowledge, and ability to follow workplace Occupational, Safety and Health procedures. Ability to effectively communicate and provide supervision, guidance, and training to Team members. Ability to work in a team environment and provide the highest quality of customer service to the public when responding to queries. Current HR class driver's licence, Safety Awareness Training - White Card, Basic Worksite Traffic Management, Provide First Aid and a Plant Operations qualification.
