Civil Designer

About this opportunity:
As a key player in our design team, you will carry out detailed civil engineering design and drafting, provide innovative, sustainable and cost-effective solutions, and ensure all projects align with Council policies and objectives. You'll be working across various asset classes, supporting delivery of vital infrastructure for our growing community.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare conceptual and detailed civil designs using AutoCAD and 12D Model across a variety of infrastructure projects, aligned with the Design Services program
* Develop practical, efficient and innovative design solutions that meet engineering standards and best practice.
* Interpret design requirements through collaboration with State Government agencies, service authorities and external stakeholders to resolve issues and achieve compliant outcomes.
* Provide technical guidance and mentoring to design team members and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
* Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand project needs and deliver high-quality, customer-focused design services.
* Produce comprehensive design documentation, including drawings, specifications, schedules and cost estimates to support construction tender processes.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
* Qualifications in Engineering:
o Associate Degree (preferred), or equivalent with extensive relevant experience; OR
o Associate Diploma with extensive skills and relevant experience; OR
o Lesser formal qualifications combined with considerable skills and extensive relevant experience.
* Current QLD “C” Class Driver’s Licence
* General Construction Safety “White” Card, or ability to obtain
* Proven proficiency in AutoCAD, 12D Model, and Microsoft Office, including project management tools.
* Practical experience in the design, drafting, estimating and project documentation preparation for civil engineering infrastructure, preferably on behalf of, or within a Local Government environment.

* Well-developed ability to deal with difficult situations, clearly articulate issues, negotiate outcomes and resolve problems, with an attitude to take personal responsibility for promptly handling and resolving workplace tasks.
* Demonstrated commitment to promoting workplace health, safety, and wellbeing, including psychological safety for all employees.
