The Opportunity
Knowledge and Expertise's (K&E) work and responsibilities go to the heart of Ashurst's 2027 strategy. Our K&E specialists empower our legal teams with insights, skills and tools so that they can deliver exceptional client services across the globe.
This role will form part of a well-established expertise function, working with an Expertise Counsel and led by Expertise Partners in the FFR division. Your priority will be to work with the Expertise Partners in the Global Loans & Global Markets and the Restructuring, Insolvency & Special Situations practices, and broader practice leadership to implement the strategic priorities in the practice's expertise plan.
More broadly, you will:
* Help coordinate Ashurst's response to emerging legal and market developments by leveraging expertise from across practices and regions.
* Facilitate cross-practice collaboration to identify trends, opportunities and insights, harnessing the collective expertise of Ashurst's global network.
* Plan, coordinate and assist with thought leadership campaigns and client publications.
* Collaborate with the global expertise community to promote knowledge-sharing across the firm.
* Coordinate the development and maintenance of foundational cross-practice knowhow, with the support of the expertise partner and expertise lawyer community.
* Foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
* Help drive the firm's commitment to next generation technology, including AI tools.
We are interested in hearing from people who have:
* Technically excellent, with abilities commensurate with a Senior Associate or above, qualified in Australia.
* A range of relevant experience across debt finance and/or restructuring, expected to include advising on personal property securities law and corporations law issues relevant to the practice teams.
* Ability to pivot into new areas of law and practice.
* Experience writing legal publications and/or the skills and ability to produce high quality publications in a short timeframe.
* Skilled at analysing complex legal issues, understanding their practical impact and devising pragmatic solutions.
* Passionate about the ongoing development of lawyers, inspiring enthusiasm for learning, and an eagerness to share knowledge.
* Confident and motivated to establish strong, trusted partner relationships across the practice and broader firm.
* Senior Lawyers who are not Australian-qualified, but have relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
