GBP Products Pty Ltd is a leading meat processing company, committed to maintaining high operational and safety standards. We are currently seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our Maintenance Team in Poowong, Victoria. This is a hands-on role that involves diagnosing, repairing, and optimizing mechanical systems to support efficient plant operations.
Position Overview
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and improving mechanical systems, ensuring that machinery operates efficiently with minimal downtime. This position requires strong technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to maintenance and repairs.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist in the installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems and equipment.
· Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize machine downtime.
· Diagnose faults in mechanical components, using testing and measurement instruments.
· Recommend and implement modifications to improve efficiency and reliability.
· Assemble, install, and adjust mechanical parts according to engineering specifications.
· Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and quality control standards.
· Maintain accurate service and maintenance records.
· Conduct mechanical testing and inspections to assess performance.
· Assist in fabricating and modifying parts using machining and welding techniques as required.
Skills & Experience
· Minimum three years of experience in a similar mechanical maintenance or engineering technician role.
· Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including hydraulics and pneumatics.
· Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults using technical manuals and diagnostic tools.
· Experience with machining, welding, and fabrication is highly regarded.
· Knowledge of mechanical safety procedures and maintenance best practices.
· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Formal qualifications are not required but are highly regarded (e.g., Certificate IV or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field).
Additional Requirements
· Physically fit and capable of performing manual tasks.
· Ability to work full-time (Monday to Friday) and be available for weekend work if required.
