Mental Health Therapist (Medicare-Eligible)


12-Month Maternity Leave Contract | Commencing March/April 2026

Insight Therapies Counselling and Consultancy is seeking an experienced Medicare-eligible Mental Health Therapist to join our team in a 12-month maternity leave position. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to deliver trauma-informed, relational, and neurodivergent-affirming care within a supportive and growing allied health practice.

About the Role


As a Therapist, you will:

* Provide high-quality, trauma-informed therapeutic services across a diverse caseload
* Deliver services eligible for Medicare rebates under the Better Access Initiative
* Participate in clinical supervision and reflective practice within a multidisciplinary team
* Collaborate with colleagues to support safe, consistent, and effective client care
* Contribute to program development and community engagement initiatives where appropriate

Essential Criteria


To be successful in this role, you must:

* Be eligible to deliver services under the Medicare Better Access Initiative (or able to obtain eligibility prior to commencement)
* Hold current Australian work authorisation (this position is not eligible for sponsorship)
* Hold qualifications as one of the following:

* Social Worker (AMHSW registration required)

* Mental Health Occupational Therapist
* Registered Psychologist
* Have a minimum 2 years' clinical experience, with a strong background in trauma and complex mental health
* Demonstrate commitment to collaborative, multidisciplinary practice
* Have experience working with diverse and complex client groups, including:

* Family violence victim-survivors

* Children and young people in out-of-home care and child protection systems
* Neurodivergent individuals
* People with disabilities and young carers
* Maintain high standards of professional communication, ethical practice, and documentation
* Be willing and able to obtain and maintain a current Working with Children Check and National Police Check (mandatory requirement)

Your eligibility to deliver services under the Medicare Better Access Initiative, including current registration and relevant accreditation (AMHSW, AHPRA, or equivalent).
2. Trauma-Informed Practice

Examples of how you deliver therapy grounded in safety, connection, empathy, compassion, and client choice.
3. Experience with Complex Presentations

Your experience working with trauma, neurodivergence, disability, and system-involved children, young people, and adults.
4. Collaborative Team Practice

How you contribute to multidisciplinary teams, including engagement in supervision, reflective practice, and shared care planning.
5. Professional Communication and Documentation

Your ability to maintain high-quality clinical records, reports, and professional correspondence aligned with ethical and funding requirements.
6. Professional Development and Ethics

Your commitment to ongoing learning, reflective practice, and adherence to professional standards and safeguarding responsibilities.
