Therapeutic Services for Children and Young People
New Street Services provide therapeutic services to children and young people aged 10-17 who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviours. The service assists the young person to understand, acknowledge, take responsibility for and cease the harmful behaviour.
The outcomes of this service are often positive, with most cases being an isolated incident. This achieves positive impacts for both individuals and the child protection system as a whole. Clients come to the service voluntarily, on the referral of networks working collaboratively within the community and health services.
This role is well supported, with a 3 month orientation and training before practice. Ongoing clinical supervision and consultation from a senior Clinical Advisor, as well as regular support through networking meetings, are also provided.
Experience in clinical service of a complex nature and trauma based restorative practice is preferred but not essential. Extensive training and development are provided with ongoing support and supervision.
As an empathetic person driven to engage positively with clients and stakeholders, you will work collaboratively with community services to improve client outcomes. You will work in a co-therapy model, travelling in pairs to consult in outreach with flexible working hours when not travelling.
Priority is given to Aboriginal young people, with identified Aboriginal Clinicians leading culturally safe practices to improve health outcomes.
