Job Title: Irrigation Technician
Sunland Fresh Fruit is a premium stonefruit producer located on the banks of the Murray River in Cobram and Barooga. We have a rich and proud history spanning over generations.
Our orchard has an exciting opportunity for an irrigation technician to join our team. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day irrigation operations and implementing programs suitable to the orchard.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee the effective management of water resources to optimise sustainable tree growth and production of the orchard.
* Maintain effective irrigation equipment and infrastructure, including monitoring soil moisture levels and providing guidance on optimal crop rotation and variety selection.
* Conduct field assessments to identify potential issues and propose solutions to optimise crop yields.
Requirements:
* Demonstrated knowledge of the agricultural industry, including products, seasonal timings and general requirements of rural producers.
* Experience and knowledge of irrigation systems and their components.
* Up-to-date knowledge of the irrigation industry, relevant standards and best practice methods and procedures.
