Your new role
As a Senior Communications Advisor (AO6 equivalent), you will provide high-level communications and stakeholder engagement support across a major infrastructure program within the South Coast Region. The role focusses on external engagement, media liaison, correspondence, and issues management, with direct interaction with community members, industry, and government stakeholders.
You will lead a small communications and engagement team and provide strategic advice to senior leaders, project directors, and regional executives. The role is hands-on, fast paced, and highly visible, with regular site and stakeholder engagement across the region.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
* Demonstrated experience in senior communications or stakeholder engagement roles.
* Proven capability across community engagement, media relations, correspondence, and issues management.
* Experience working in government or major infrastructure project environments.
* Strong stakeholder management skills, including handling sensitive issues and complex conversations.
* Experience in major infrastructure project environments and social media competency, will also be highly regarded.
* IAP2 or equivalent training in community engagement and public participation.
* Knowledge of the infrastructure planning lifecycle.
* Experience leading or supervising communications or engagement staff.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to clarity and accuracy.
* A current Class C driver's licence and ability to attend site-based meetings.
* White Card or ability to obtain it within six months.
* Tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
