The Role
We are looking for an experienced Speech Pathologist who is interested in balancing your own reduced caseload along with provide localised leadership and supporting new Grads and early career clinicians.
We would love someone to join us who enjoys providing supervision, being a go-to person for questions, can shadow junior speechies in initial or more challenging appointments, and who's keen to grow as a leader within our business. If you would like a purely clinical role, that's ok too - still reach out.
As a community- based clinicians, we predominantly see our clients either in their homes, group homes, aged care facilities or in a public setting that's relevant for them eg in a cafe to test out some new AAC. We want to see our clients where they are most comfortable, whilst also giving you a diverse role full of variety and learning opportunities.
Some of our team schedule a full day of seeing clients one day, then balance this with a work from home day or an office day to write reports, prepare resources (the laminator gets a workout), have supervision / training. Or you can mix things up depending how you like to work!
A community role is ideal for someone who enjoys genuine flexibility and control over how you structure your days and therefore you don't miss your afternoon sport or being able to do the school run with your kids.
Logistically, we have a waterfront office inTorontowith convenient free parking and the role can be structured asfull-timeorpart-time or as a Contractor. Depending where you are based, we can tailor your caseload to service clients aroundMaitland, Newcastle or Lake Macquarie.
Qualifications & Experience
* Approved qualification in Speech Pathology and SPA registration
* Current driver's license with use of own vehicle
* NDIS Workers Screening and WWCC
* Prior managerial or supervisory experience ideal
How We Make an Impact
Recovery Station provides community and clinic based allied health services, with a strong focus on disability and senior health. For20 yearswe have grown and now proudly offer services in the community across Sydney, the Hunter, Central Coast, Tamworth and nationally via telepractice.
Together, our passionate multidisciplinary team of OTs, Mental Health OT's, Psychologists, BSP', Speech Pathologists, Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists, Dietitians and Allied Health Assistants collaboratively share their knowledge and experience to holistically design an individualised service to help improve the quality of life for people living with a disability or looking to age as independently as possible.
Who Your Work Helps
Your caseload will consist of people over 16yrs of age, who may have a range of disabilities (e.g. intellectual disability, Autism, Down Syndrome), neurological events (e.g. stroke, acquired brain injury, brain tumour), and/or a degenerative disease (e.g. Parkinson's Disease, Motor Neurone Disease, Huntington's Disease, dementia).
You will assist people out in the community and within group homes (including speech, language and swallowing assessments and therapy, mealtime management plans).
You will have the opportunity to provide assessment, therapy and management to clients with a range of speech pathology diagnosis including: non-verbal, dysphagia, dyspraxia, aphasia, pragmatics, voice clients.
The skills you will develop and demonstrate in the role:
* Utilise dedicated time in your diary to assist junior clinicians achieve their goals or to answer ad hoc enquiries
* Showcase a high level of professional judgement and knowledge to provide a wide range of speech and language supports to adolescent and adult clients
* Assess the communication and mealtime management abilities of clients utilising a range of assessment techniques and tools
* Design intervention plans that are holistic, client-centric and outcomes driven
* Provide support, education and assistance to clients, carers and families with the implementation of intervention plans and programs
With our training and support you will become confident as a leader, as well as in developing care plans and writing comprehensive reports based on your advanced clinical understanding, application of various clinical assessments and implementation of appropriate interventions to address prioritised needs.

* Your one on ones will be complemented with monthly team meetings with your fellow Speechies so you can learn and present during in-services sessions, share ideas, resources and stay abreast of any industry updates

* Formal and informal liaison opportunities with other members ofour MDT to broaden your clinical knowledge and provide holistic care to our clients
