About This Opportunity

We are seeking a diligent and organised Senior Research Administration Officer to join the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences, where your contribution will support world-class research that makes a meaningful impact on health outcomes in Australia and globally.

In this role, you will provide high-level research administration and advisory support to academic and professional staff in the UQ Medical School and as required, supporting other Schools or Centres within the Herston precinct, while also playing a vital part in maintaining operational excellence across research-related activities. You'll work closely with researchers and leadership teams to enhance the research environment and ensure smooth and efficient processes.

As part of a collaborative and supportive team, you'll be empowered to grow professionally while contributing to UQ's mission to deliver exceptional research. The role also offers flexibility, with the expectation that you may work across different portfolios during peak periods or staff absences to support operational continuity.

Key responsibilities will include:

* Provide expert guidance to researchers on research administration processes, systems, and compliance, supporting onboarding and documentation across pre- and post-award activities.

* Coordinate pre-award grant support, including triaging enquiries, identifying funding opportunities, and liaising with the UQ Research Office and other key stakeholders.

* Support post-award grant management, ensuring compliance with funding agreements and university policies through collaboration with finance, HR, and research governance teams.

* Contribute to a high-performing research environment by embedding consistent processes, supporting strategic initiatives, maintaining research performance insights, and building strong cross-unit networks.

About You

* A degree with subsequent relevant experience; or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training

* Experience in research administration with a sound knowledge of research policies and procedures or the demonstrated capacity to rapidly gain that knowledge

* Experience with using University and granting body IT applications

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality

* Demonstrated ability to produce research reports and minutes with excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy

* Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with colleagues internal and external to the University including professional, academic staff and \health professionals engaged in research

* Ability to work collaboratively within a team or independently as necessary and exercise judgement and initiative

* Excellent organisational skills with demonstrated ability to manage and prioritise competing tasks and meet deadlines
