Overview
CareRing Health is seeking a Billing Specialist with strong analytical skills, a knack for numbers, and experience with collections, invoicing, and/or accounts receivable. An associate's degree in accounting or a related field is preferred.
Responsibilities
The Billing Specialist will be responsible for generating and submitting billing for homecare visits and ensuring collection and posting of payments and adjustments, including:
1. Entering all medical visits into the practice management EHR Medical Billing System accurately and efficiently.
2. Reconciling charges and data entered into the system to ensure 100% accuracy, verifying correct provider, medical service, and coding are billed.
3. Collecting accounts receivable from various revenue sources, such as States Medicaid and MCO programs, Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Government and Commercial Insurance, and patient responsibility.
4. Appealing and troubleshooting denied claims, preparing them for rebilling, inquiring about unpaid claims, and correcting errors for re-submission on a daily basis as needed.
5. Requesting and following up on additional information for auditing of claims and revenue reports, including eligibility, benefits, and provider information.
6. Submitting claims to insurance companies daily as necessary.
7. Filing all correspondence into patients' charts.
8. Negotiating settlements for payments with insurance companies and courts, assisted by the Billing Manager.
9. Auditing submitted claims daily to respond to rejections, denials, and short-pays, ensuring timely collections.
10. Reviewing and posting Remittance Advice to the EHR Medical Billing System.
11. Making adjustments within the EHR Medical Billing System according to department guidance.
12. Following billing policy guidelines and documented procedures.
13. Demonstrating CareRing's principle of providing quality health and human services to medically underserved and low-income populations in a culturally sensitive manner.
14. Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
* An associate's degree in accounting or a related field is preferred.
* Experience posting and balancing payments is required.
* Billing experience with Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial health plans for medical services is preferred.
* A university/college degree is an asset.
Skills and Abilities:
* Accounting experience is preferred but not required.
* One year of experience with collections, invoicing, and/or accounts receivable is required.
* Strong attention to detail and dedication to accuracy are essential.
* Ability to analyze large sets of data is necessary.
* Experience working with an EHR medical billing system is required.
* High familiarity with AR functions is expected.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
