The ACT Emergency Services Agency (ESA) is seeking Expressions of Interest from highly motivated and experienced individuals to fill the role of Senior Advisor, Strategy, People and Policy within the Office of the ESA Commissioner. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with, and support, the ESA Commissioner in delivering legislative and business-critical priorities across the agency. The successful applicant will provide high-level advice on complex and sensitive matters, contribute to strategic planning and policy development, and support the implementation of key initiatives including volunteer governance, change management, and industrial relations. In this role, you will provide expert and trusted advice to the ESA Commissioner and Executive team across a range of strategic, operational and policy matters. You will lead and contribute to the development and implementation of strategic planning and reform initiatives that align with ESA’s broader objectives and the Justice and Community Safety Directorate’s priorities. You will be responsible for preparing high-quality briefings, correspondence and responses on behalf of the Commissioner, often within tight timeframes and in a dynamic environment. To be successful in this role, you will bring a strong understanding of legislative frameworks, industrial relations, and volunteer governance, along with excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills. You will be expected to work both independently and collaboratively, managing competing priorities with professionalism and resilience. Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders will be essential to ensuring that advice and initiatives are well-informed and collaborative. Your ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain discretion and confidentiality, and manage sensitive issues will be critical to your success. Eligibility/Other Requirements: Relevant qualifications would be an advantage. Driver’s licence Class C is essential. This position does not require a pre-employment medical. Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.
