About the Position
This full-time Sous Chef role offers $80K + super and a balanced roster in a supportive team environment. Leongatha is a friendly rural township surrounded by rolling hills, beaches nearby, and all the essentials for a relaxed regional lifestyle. You'll be the second in charge in the kitchen, supporting the Head Chef with day-to-day operations, menu execution, team leadership, and maintaining food quality and safety standards.
Position Description
- Assist in running daily kitchen operations in a busy bistro setting
- Supervise and mentor junior kitchen team members
- Ensure food consistency, quality, and presentation across all services
- Contribute to menu planning and specials
- Monitor stock, ordering, and supplier relationships
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and compliance with food safety standards
- Step up and lead during Head Chef's absence
- Rotating roster with split shifts
Position Requirements
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or strong CDP ready to step up
- Confident working in high-volume bistro or pub-style kitchens
- Ability to lead, train, and motivate kitchen staff
- Solid understanding of kitchen operations, stock control, and food safety
- Full working rights in Australia (no sponsorship available)
- Availability to work evenings and weekends as required
