About the Role
Reporting to the Field Sales Manager WA – IRG, the Area Manager will manage a defined territory within the Independent Retail Group channel, with a strong focus on servicing and growing existing customer accounts. The role is centred on building trusted partnerships, maximising sales opportunities, and delivering mutually beneficial commercial outcomes through the promotion of the full product portfolio. The position will also involve periodic intrastate travel to ensure consistent engagement with customers across the region. Key brands you will work with in retail include Yalumba, Oxford Landing, Jansz, West Cape Howe, Hay Shed Hill, Vasse Felix, Forest Hill, Wirra Wirra, Langmeil and Jim Barry.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver budgeted margin and product mix targets, ensuring all initiatives are aligned with brand guidelines.
- Deepen relationships with existing customers while enhancing wine knowledge through tailored presentations and hosted tastings.
- Analyse sales and customer data to generate actionable insights and identify opportunities for growth.
- Execute activation plans provided by Customer Marketing to drive commercial outcomes.
- Translate territory budgets into practical operational plans and monitor progress through the CRM platform in line with company processes.
- Plan and schedule activities to meet channel requirements and respond flexibly to customer needs, including occasional work outside standard business hours.
About You
You will bring experience from the wine, hospitality, or retail liquor industry, along with a solid foundation in customer relationship management, territory management, and commercial decision-making. Your wine knowledge — ideally supported by WSET Level 2 (or equivalent) — and your industry network will enable you to engage confidently with customers and add value to their business. In this role, your ability to foster strong relationships, drive sales, and apply financial acumen to margins and reporting will be key to your success. A current, unrestricted driver’s licence is required to support work across the territory.
