About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead vegetable production operations at our Lara site.
This is a leadership role with full accountability for production performance across sowing, growing and dispatch. You will be responsible for delivering safe, efficient and high-quality operations, ensuring customer requirements are met in full and on time, while driving continuous improvement and minimising waste.
You will lead multiple teams across production, growing and sowing, building capability, driving performance, and creating a strong, accountable and high-performing culture.
Key Responsibilities
In this role you will:
* Lead end-to-end production operations, including sowing, growing and dispatch, ensuring delivery against quality, service and efficiency targets
* Drive a high-performance culture through strong leadership, coaching, accountability and team development
* Manage high labour volumes, including workforce planning, labour optimisation and ensuring effective utilisation across production activities
* Ensure compliance with quality systems and implement robust quality control processes to maximise product outcomes
* Monitor production performance, identify issues and implement structured solutions to improve efficiency and reduce waste
* Develop and manage production budgets in partnership with Finance, ensuring delivery against financial targets
* Establish, monitor and report on KPIs across production, labour utilisation, efficiency and customer outcomes
* Lead daily and weekly operational rhythms, including toolbox meetings and performance reviews
* Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Plant Health, Maintenance and HR to ensure aligned and effective operations
* Ensure all production activities are conducted safely and in line with WHS, biosecurity and company requirements
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance systems, processes and production methods
* Oversee maintenance and effective utilisation of plant and equipment to support operational delivery
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
* Proven experience in a senior production or operations management role, ideally within horticulture, agriculture or food manufacturing
* Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and manage teams in a complex, fast-paced environment
* Strong experience managing production systems, quality standards and operational performance
* Experience with budgeting, cost control and delivering against financial targets
* A strong focus on continuous improvement, efficiency and waste reduction
* Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound operational decisions
* Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence across teams
* High level of accountability, ownership and commitment to achieving results
* Experience with ERP or production systems is highly regarded
* Qualifications in a relevant field and/or experience with Lean management or continuous improvement methodologies (highly desirable)
