The Sustainable Infrastructure Group
The Sustainable Infrastructure group is dedicated to maximising value for customers and the community by developing innovative and optimised infrastructure plans, efficiently managing their diary, and overseeing the planning, construction, delivery, and maintenance of water and sewerage assets across the state and business.
The Engineering business unit within the Sustainable Infrastructure group is accountable to engineer sustainable outcomes and synthesises value for its partners and community.
About The Job
You will lead and inspire SA Water's Engineering Delivery Services team to deliver high-quality engineering outcomes across project controls and commercial risk management for our capital works program.
This senior leadership role sits within our Engineering business unit and is responsible for planning and overseeing a diverse pipeline of capital projects requiring specialist engineering input.
Key Responsibilities:
* Foster trust with our people, customers, and community by providing expert advice and service that ensures effective communication and engagement with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.
* Build and lead a high-performing team – provide clear direction, coaching, and support to enable staff to deliver safely, effectively, and to their full potential.
* Champion safety first – embed a strong safety culture across all engineering activities, ensuring compliance with WHS obligations, standards, and regulations.
* Develop and maintain engineering capability – oversee project planning and delivery, ensuring technical excellence, sustainable design, and fit-for-purpose outcomes.
* Deliver customer-focused outcomes – work closely with business partners and stakeholders to provide timely, cost-effective, and value-adding engineering solutions.
* Foster collaboration and culture – promote teamwork, innovation, and knowledge sharing within Engineering and across the wider organisation.
* Ensure sound governance and quality – maintain robust processes, standards, and KPIs that deliver safe, compliant, and high-quality project outcomes.
* Drive continuous improvement and innovation – identify opportunities to enhance service delivery, leverage emerging technologies, and adopt industry best practice.
Requirements:
* Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or a related discipline.
* Proven track record in project management, specifically within engineering-focused initiatives.
* Extensive experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering design teams across capital programs/projects.
* Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including navigating challenges, fostering collaboration, and driving strategic transformation.
* Strong background in managing external consultants and contractors to deliver project outcomes.
* In-depth understanding of engineering procedures and practices, with a focus on managing technical risk in large-scale engineering environments.
* Postgraduate qualifications and practical experience in customer engagement and business development strategies.
