The Role
The successful applicant will ideally possess training and/or experience teaching Year 11 or 12 ATAR General Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) courses and have experience and/or capacity to teach Year 7 to 10 HASS subjects. The successful applicant will ideally have knowledge of the adopted and adapted WA HASS Curriculum due for implementation in 2026 and a willingness to work collaboratively in a strong team environment to engage in the teaching and learning of HASS courses for lower school and senior school. Experience in teaching students with varying literacy levels, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and those with special needs is highly desirable. Knowledge of Trauma-Informed Practice and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is also preferred but not essential.
The HASS learning area at Broome Senior High continues to develop culturally responsive curriculum, embedding high quality learning for students from Years 7 to 12.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers
Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
