Job Summary
The Gregory Poole Equipment Company is seeking a skilled mechanic to perform routine mechanical repairs on construction equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanics, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work safely and efficiently.
Essential Duties:
* Prepare for duties by checking equipment and supplies, complying with PPE requirements, and using manuals, repair manuals, and parts diagrams to troubleshoot construction equipment.
* Use lift trucks, overhead cranes, and other aids to lift or move parts into position to be repaired.
* Remove, install, replace, rebuild, repair, and test parts/equipment on construction equipment using hand and power tools.
* Use miscellaneous resources and computers to reference parts, get information about parts, and enter data into record systems.
* Climb onto, under, and into vehicles to gain access to all parts of the vehicle.
* Move items off the vehicle (tracks, idler wheels, blades, etc.) and then to move parts to locations for disassembly, repair, and back to the vehicle for reassembly using overhead hoists, lift devices, forklifts, and other aids.
* Perform inspections, do preventative maintenance, and repair engines, power trains, hydraulic, and electrical components.
* Clean and paint vehicles using power washers and spray paint equipment.
* Reprogram equipment controllers using instruments and computers.
Minimum Requirements:
* Education: High school education or GED required.
* Work Experience: Requires up to two years schooling or direct work experience; must be mechanically inclined and have good basic knowledge obtained through schooling or work experience.
* Physical: Must be able to stoop, kneel, bend, and climb onto and underneath various equipment to perform diagnosis and repairs.
* Must be able to effectively see to perform repairs, research technical manuals, and develop written repair work order reports.
* Must be able to routinely and physically lift/position various parts to perform repairs/service and manually handle parts up to 112 pounds.
* Must have cognitive reasoning and problem-solving skills to apply knowledge, written information, and verbal instructions in repairing/servicing unusual and/or unknown technical equipment operational problems.
