About the Hospital and Mental Health Service
The hospital provides a wide range of medical, surgical, and specialist services to a population of approximately 250,000 people living across Tasmania's south region. The hospital is a significant clinical teaching and research site, working in close partnership with the University of Tasmania.
A dedicated acute inpatient mental health unit provides treatment for individuals who require 24-hour specialist mental health care in a safe and secure environment. The unit provides three levels of care, including lower acuity, medium acuity, and high acuity, with each supporting a collaborative, integrated suite of programs to ensure the best possible outcomes for mental health patients and their families.
Community-based mental health teams also operate to support the needs of individuals who can be treated without the need for acute hospital admission. The successful candidate will be working as part of this multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality mental health care and contributing to the development of innovative programs and services.
