Primary objective
This leadership position will provide high level advice, professional leadership and management support for the Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islander Health Worker and Practitioner professional workforce across the acute setting of RDH and PRH to ensure
they are working to their full scope of practice and meeting national standards. The position reports to the General Manager, RDH.
Context statement
This position requires an Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner with extensive experience in clinical practice,
leadership and management, with the ability to provide high level advice to the executive team on issues relevant to these unique
professions. This position will drive the successful integration of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker and
Practitioner professional workforce across the RDH and PRH workplace in collaboration with other senior professional leads and
Aboriginal workforce leads.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Promote and drive the implementation of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker and Practitioner professional
workforce across the acute hospital sector to build a strong, sustainable, and clinically and culturally safe health service.
2. Provide high level advice to the health service executives, clinical leads and senior leadership teams on all aspects of the
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker and Practitioner professional workforce including strategic workforce and
policy planning.
1. In collaboration with the senior professional leads, provide guidance and support in delivering key initiatives, including clinical
supervision, professional practice, mentoring, upskilling and succession planning across RDH and PRH to ensure they are
working to their full scope of practice, national standards and meeting compliance.
1. Contribute to relevant clinical governance systems through evaluation and development of skills and competency in
professional practice supervision and support the Office of the Chief Aboriginal Health Practitioner in strategic planning
and evaluation to address workforce needs.
1. Promote and follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being
undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
1. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Current registration with AHPRA as an Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner with no conditions.
1. Minimum AQF level 7 as per NTPS Aboriginal Health Practitioner Enterprise Agreement and/or signed learning
agreement demonstrating a commitment to achieve this.
3. Demonstrated extensive experience as an advanced practitioner across diverse settings.
1. Proven ability to collaborate, supervise less experienced colleagues, and lead multidisciplinary teams
2. Demonstrated excellent communication skills, collegiality, and adaptability/flexibility required for an optimal management style.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of the broad objectives of NT Health service delivery, legislative frameworks, and ability to help
guide specific Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker and Practitioner professional workforce goals in
furthering culturally responsive care.
