An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Supply Chain Manager to join an organisation in the automotive sector, based in the Northern Suburbs. As a pivotal member of the team, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of supply chain operations, from purchasing and logistics to inventory control and production scheduling.
What you'll do:
As Supply Chain Manager, you will play an integral role in shaping the operational backbone of the organisation. Your day-to-day activities will involve not only managing a diverse team but also driving process improvements that enhance part availability and streamline inventory control.
- Oversee the entire supply chain function including purchasing, logistics, warehousing, inventory management, bill of materials handling, vehicle production scheduling, vehicle storage management, and spare parts provision to ensure seamless operations.
- Develop and implement robust processes and systems aimed at continuously improving part availability and inventory control throughout the supply chain lifecycle.
- Foster strong working relationships with both local and international suppliers to guarantee process compliance and timely delivery of essential components.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders such as manufacturing, finance, engineering, and quality teams to align supply chain activities with broader organisational objectives.
- Manage the procurement of both production and non-production materials in accordance with technical specifications and project requirements.
- Optimise inventory levels and shipping costs by employing effective inventory management strategies that support cost efficiency without compromising quality or timelines.
- Utilise Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems and demand planning tools to accurately manage production schedules and meet customer expectations.
- Lead, mentor, and support the supply chain team by providing clear direction, fostering collaboration, and encouraging career development within the group.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to supply chain efficiency and proactively address any areas requiring improvement or adjustment.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards and company policies while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
What you bring:
To excel as Supply Chain Manager in this organisation, you will draw upon extensive experience gained over at least ten years within manufacturing or similar industries. Your academic background in material planning & logistics or engineering equips you with essential technical insights needed for success.
- Bachelor's Degree in Material Planning & Logistics or an Engineering discipline provides you with the technical foundation required for this multifaceted role.
- A minimum of ten years' experience in supply chain management within the manufacturing sector or a closely related industry ensures you bring deep industry knowledge to the table.
- Demonstrated track record in delivering comprehensive supply chain and logistics solutions highlights your ability to drive results across complex operations.
- Proven experience leading teams in a hands-on capacity showcases your supportive approach to people management within dynamic environments.
- Adaptability to thrive in quick-paced manufacturing settings enables you to respond effectively to changing priorities while maintaining operational excellence.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills allow you to liaise confidently with both local and international suppliers as well as internal stakeholders.
- Strong analytical abilities equip you to identify opportunities for process optimisation across purchasing, logistics, warehousing, inventory control, and production scheduling.
- Experience implementing new systems or processes demonstrates your commitment to continuous improvement within the supply chain function.
- A collaborative mindset supports your ability to work harmoniously across departments such as finance, engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
