9am - 5pm

headspace Taree is operated by Samaritans Foundation and part of a national initiative to deliver improvements in the mental health, social wellbeing and economic participation of young people aged 12-25.

About the Opportunity

Working within a multidisciplinary team at our Taree Centre, you will focus on community capacity building, youth participation, community awareness and education, and training activities designed to raise awareness and understanding of youth mental health. Applicants will need to be able to develop and/or link with a range of creative youth‐friendly programs and strategies that attract and engage young people.

Responsibilities
* Develop and implement community capacity building initiatives.
* Facilitate youth participation and engagement.
* Deliver community awareness and education activities.
* Provide training and group activities that facilitate opportunities for young people to develop appropriate skills.
* Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline or extensive demonstrated experience in health promotion, public health, social sciences, communication/marketing, education or youth work.
* Awareness of the health issues affecting children and young people, including those experiencing mental health problems.
* Sound knowledge of health promotion and social marketing principles.
* Proven ability to utilise a strengths‐based approach to communicate and develop respectful and professional relationships with young people aged 12–25.
* Experience in providing training and group activities that facilitate opportunities for young people to develop appropriate skills.
* Demonstrated willingness and ability to work within a team.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Excellent computer skills (MS Word, PowerPoint, internet, social media platforms, email and publishing software).
* Able to work flexible hours and days to accommodate community needs.
* Willingness to obtain NSW Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check, First‐Aid & CPR certificate, Covid‐19 Vaccination Certificate and undertake a pre‐employment functional medical.
* Experience in writing and editing written and web‐based social media publications.
* Grant writing experience.
* Accreditation and evidence‐based group programme experience or mental health training.
* Attendance at a suicide risk assessment training such as ASIST, Blackdog, ADV or training in Suicide Prevention.
