Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA) is an independent, non-profit organisation with its head office located near North Sydney. We are the world’s largest treatment and research centre with a single focus on melanoma, and our mission is to reach zero deaths from melanoma this decade.
MIA is seeking a Program Officer to join the Roadmap Operations Team that is supporting the development of the Roadmap for a National Targeted Skin Cancer Screening Program. This is an Australian Government-funded 3.5-year program of evidence synthesis and targeted research into skin cancer screening led by the Melanoma Institute Australia in close consultation with Cancer Australia, Australian Institute of Health and Welfare and the broader skin cancer sector.
We are looking for an individual with experience in a research setting, good project management and organisational skills, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. This position will support the Program Manager, Program Lead and Roadmap Operations Team to successfully deliver the Roadmap. The Program Officer will assist the Roadmap Operations team in the co-ordination, development and drafting of materials and reports for projects and initiatives being undertaken across the Workstreams of the Roadmap Program.
The successful applicant will report to the Program Manager at the Melanoma Institute Australia and be based predominantly with the Melanoma and Skin Cancer team at the Daffodil Centre at The University of Sydney Camperdown campus, alongside the Program Manager and Roadmap Lead.

- Tertiary qualifications in a public health or medical science field or similar
- Problem solving skills and the ability to use initiative, exercise sound judgement and prioritise workload during busy periods
- High level of written and verbal communication skills, with excellent attention to detail
- Experience supporting complex projects with diverse members
- Experience in preparing documentation (including contracts and research reports) and maintaining records with a high degree of accuracy
- Able to relate well to others and work effectively as part of a small team
- Shows initiative and able to exercise sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work
- Competent PC skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook and familiarity with program management tools
Desirable
- An understanding of research ethics, governance and confidentiality
- Prior experience in clinical or health-related research setting
- Previous research project experience
