We're not looking for a title-holder.
We're looking for a doer.
Someone who takes ownership, works through complexity, and gets real satisfaction from contracts that run properly, safely, and on time.
If you're detail-oriented, fast-paced, and calm under pressure—and you'd rather solve problems than talk about them—keep reading.
The Kind of Person Who Succeeds Here
* Highly organised and methodical, even when things get busy
* Comfortable working to strict standards, timeframes, and compliance requirements
* Someone who follows things through—properly
* Direct, professional, and efficient in how you communicate
* Accountable, reliable, and consistent
* Managing moving parts and competing priorities
* Working with Defence or Government frameworks where precision matters
* Leading people and setting clear expectations
* Holding subcontractors and internal teams to standard
* Pushing through challenges instead of escalating them unnecessarily
You don't need constant supervision.
You don't need excessive meetings.
You just need clear responsibility and the authority to act.
The Role
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a Defence maintenance contract delivering preventative and corrective maintenance services across Defence bases in the Northern Territory.
This role has real ownership and includes:
* End-to-end contract and operational management
* Planning, coordinating, and overseeing maintenance activities
* Managing subcontractors delivering works on behalf of the business
* Ensuring all work complies with Defence, NT Government, and company standards
* Completing and reviewing required reporting, documentation, and compliance paperwork
* Managing OHSE requirements, site safety, and contractor compliance
* Identifying risks early and resolving issues before they escalates
* Leading the administration team to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant contract support
* Working alongside the Service Manager to drive operational performance, remove bottlenecks, and maintain accountability across the service function
This is a hands‐on operational role.
You are expected to own the contract, not just administer it.
What You Must Bring
To be successful, you will need:
* Demonstrated experience working with Defence and/or NT Government contracts
* Strong understanding of compliance, documentation, and reporting obligations
* Experience managing subcontractors and internal teams
* Sound OHSE knowledge with a practical, site‐focused approach
* The ability to manage multiple work streams without losing attention to detail
Who This Role Is Not For
This role will not suit you if you:
* Avoid accountability or decision‐making
* Get overwhelmed by compliance or paperwork
* Prefer slow environments or unclear responsibility
* Need constant direction or reassurance
* Dislike managing people or enforcing standards
We move quickly, but we do things properly.
Integrity, competence, and follow‐through are non‐negotiable.
The Environment
You'll be part of a professional, experienced team that:
* Values efficiency and clear expectations
* Respects capability over hierarchy
* Expects high standards—but supports people who meet them
* Understands that strong performance and a life outside work can coexist
