About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Electronics & Embedded Firmware Engineer to join our team. This role is a balanced mix of electronics design (schematic, PCB, bring-up) and embedded firmware development (drivers, RTOS, Linux) .
You will play a key role in the full product lifecycle — from concept and hardware design through to firmware development, system integration, and production support. You will also act as a key interface between the hardware team on the Gold Coast and the software team in India.
Qualifications and Experience
• Minimum 3 years' experience in embedded systems and/or electronics design
• A university degree in electronics engineering, embedded systems, computer engineering, or similar
• Strong C/C++ programming skills for embedded systems
• Experience designing electronic circuits in Altium is essential, including schematic capture and PCB layout
• Minimum 1-2 years of hands-on experience with Altium for both schematic capture and PCB layout design
• Experience with microcontrollers such as ARM Cortex, STM32, PIC, AVR, or similar
• Experience with RTOS, Linux, and/or bare-metal firmware development
• Proficiency in at least two of the three firmware environments (bare-metal, RTOS, and Linux) is required
• Ability to read, interpret, and create electronics schematics
• Familiarity with hardware interfaces: UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO, ADC/DAC, CAN
• Experience using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analysers, and multimeters
• Experience with debugging tools (JTAG, SWD)
• Understanding of power design, signal integrity, and EMC considerations
• Experience with version control and development tools (Git, SVN, Jira)
• Knowledge of bootloaders, firmware update mechanisms, and low-power design
• Experience in board bring-up, validation, and troubleshooting
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with distributed teams
Tasks and Responsibilities
• Design and develop electronic hardware, including schematic capture, component selection, and PCB layout
• Perform board bring-up, hardware validation, and debugging
• Develop and maintain embedded firmware across bare-metal, RTOS, and Linux-based systems
• Write low-level drivers and interface firmware for custom hardware
• Collaborate closely with software teams to integrate embedded systems into larger architectures
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and firmware issues across the product lifecycle
• Contribute to system architecture and platform design decisions
• Support manufacturing, testing, and production activities
• Work with a multidisciplinary team including electronics, firmware, mechanical, and test engineers
