About the Role:
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing detailed and accurate estimates and tenders for structural steel and piping fabrication, blast & painting, concrete remediation, and resource/mining construction projects. Your expertise will play a key role in supporting project planning and execution through precise cost assessments and analysis.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a high-energy environment and is passionate about delivering accurate and competitive project estimates.
This is a permanent local based position at our Mackay Paget workshop.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare detailed cost estimates and material take-offs
* Interpret structural engineering drawings
* Allocate fabrication man-hours accurately
* Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors
* Assist with tender submissions and budgeting
We’re looking for candidates who have:
* Proven experience as an Estimator in the fabrication/construction industry
* Experience within resource, mining, or industrial environments
* The ability to read and interpret structural engineering drawings
* Strong attention to detail, ensuring accurate material take-offs and estimations
* A solid understanding of fabrication processes to allocate resources accurately
* Commercial awareness to support business growth in a competitive industry
* Proficiency in estimating software; AutoCAD experience a plus
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and estimation software
* Excellent organisational abilities and the capacity to manage competing priorities effectively.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a results-driven environment.
This role is based in Mackay, only locally based applicants will be considered.
